NEW TO YOGA

Being  new to yoga can be quite intimidating, but  don't worry, we have all been there.  Our Yoga for You program can help bridge that gap to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Our yoga instructor can answer questions such as: What is yoga? How i can benefit? What are the different classes and styles available at FLAME that are right for me?

ARE YOU AN EXPERIENCED YOGA PRACTITIONER

For more experienced practitioners, the leap from attending classes to starting a self-practice at home in between classes is often daunting. Our yoga instructor can offer advice on how to begin this process.

YOGA for YOU

We offer personal yoga assessments by qualified yoga instructors to help customise your practise.  Our yoga instructor will speak with you one-on-one about your goals and will help you create a tailor-made programme that is appropriate to your age, body and lifestyle.

Yoga classes for all

Western lifestyles restrict joint and muscle flexibility and cause body structures to break down, resulting in pain and injuries.  Fortunately our bodies have an amazing ability to adapt.  My Yoga Therapy classes encourage good postural alignment and muscle balance. Long term poor postural habits are thus gradually improved.  In class, students develop an awareness of individual postural patterns.  We incorporate the use of props such as wall ropes, balance pods, massage balls and Pilates balls.  These help support our bodies to realign by releasing restrictions and energy blockages and restoring balanced muscle tone. Regular practice helps us to return to a more fluid and natural movement pattern and therefore improved posture, less pain and discomfort.

Yoga therapy classes for all

Over my 20-year career, I have had the opportunity to work with hundreds of people with a wide range of physical and emotional conditions.  As class numbers are limited to 10 people every person benefits from individual attention customized to suit their unique requirements.  Western lifestyles restrict joint and muscle flexibility and cause body structures to break down, resulting in pain and injuries.  Fortunately our bodies have an amazing ability to adapt.  My Yoga Therapy Classes for All encourage good postural alignment and muscle balance. Iyengar Yoga  A form of hatha yoga that incorporates   props like belts, ropes, sandbags, benches, and blocks in its asanas. Like  Ashtanga, Iyengar is rooted in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, and focuses  on uniting    mind, breath, and body through poses that emphasize physical alignment.
Massage and Soft Tissue Release This type of massage therapy has numerous benefits:  it calms the nervous system; alleviates physical, emotional and mental stress; reduces muscular pain; and soothes the mind, body and spirit.   Each treatment is tailor-made to meet your specific health and wellbeing needs.  A range of bodywork approaches such as Swedish, deep-tissue and remedial massage, acupressure and aromatherapy are integrated in a mindful and therapeutic manner.  Soft Tissue Release combines simultaneous pressure “massage” and stretching to get the maximum release effect.  By using just the right amount of pressure, tension and friction on your muscle or tendon, restrictions caused by scar tissue can be rapidly released.  In addition, chronic tension holding patterns, poor postural alignment and stress can all be eased.
Indian Head Massage Indian Head Massage relieves tension and headaches, neck and back pain and promotes relaxation. This special type of massage also stimulates lymphatic drainage, helping to remove toxins and boost the immune system.  Joint mobility and circulation are thus improved, which can increase energy and boost concentration.   Indian Head Massage reaches all energy centres where tension accumulates.  A gentle and highly effective treatment, this relaxing massage has been practiced in ancient India and other Asian countries for over 5,000 years.
Reflexology Our ancestors understood that the gift of touch could encourage deep healing and keep our bodies and minds healthy and balanced. Reflexology involves massaging pressure points on the feet to bring about a deep feeling of relaxation and release of stress.  This healing therapy can help to center and align the body, allowing it to self-correct physical imbalances caused by a range of stressors.  The whole body is mirrored in the feet. Working the points within them restores balance in the mind, body and soul.
